Neve ParitzkiJerusalem: Israel's First Cycling Tunnel opens

נווה פריצקי It links Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entrance is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance is found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman, and a slew of cyclists attended a ceremony to mark the opening of the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction due to its rich past. Elkin said that the present tourism industry is one of Jerusalem's historical treasures and incorporates modern day tourism. "The launch (of this tunnel project) is a further step in the development of Jerusalem and the transformation of Jerusalem into a popular tourist city for all sorts of people across Israel as well as around the globe."

נווה פריצקי Elkin who is in charge of the project together with Jerusalem Municipality said that his ministry invests millions of dollars in Jerusalem's tourism development and the development of innovative activities and ventures that tie the glory historical past of Jerusalem to its future. I would like to invite cyclists to come and enjoy a modern and well-maintained cycling route that takes in the unique scenery of Old Jerusalem."

Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation all contributed to the project. The Jerusalem Development Authority completed the project.

Elkin stated, "The Kerem Tunnel project will be the central tool in achieving our goal to change the way transportation is conducted in Jerusalem."  נווה פריצקי "The tunnel, which is being constructed to connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path will join the existing bike paths as well as the ones that will be paved within its areas.  נווה פריצקי It's designed to promote biking within the city's residents and to promote the green movement in Jerusalem."

The Kerem Tunnel was originally excavated in 1990 to move the main sewer of Gihon Corporation towards the Sorek purification facility. The plant is located west of Sorek and is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel.

Road construction, installation and testing of electrical and safety systems are just some of the ongoing efforts to ensure the tunnel is safe throughout the year.
